At that time, Jesus told this parable to some who were righteous and despised others: "Two men went to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other publicano.El Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: 'My God, I thank you that I am not like other men-robbers, evildoers, adulterers, nor am like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and I pay tithes of all my winnings'. The collector, however, stayed away and did not dare looking up to heaven. All I did was beat his breast and said, 'My God, have mercy on me a sinner. "Well, I assure you that the latter went home justified rather than, for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted. "
